The law around data protection changed on 25th May 2018 with the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

This page explains the impact of the change on St John's, and the measures we take to keep personal data safe and secure.

St John's takes data protection very seriously.  Any details you give to us such as your name, postal address, telephone number, EMail address and tax status for Gift Aid purposes are stored in computer files which are held securely and backed up regularly.  Written records, such as Banns of Marriage or Holiday Club application forms, are kept in secure storage.  We do not collect or store any information via our church website.

We never pass on your personal details to any other person or organisation, and we will not use the information we have about you for any purpose other than sending you news about St John's and keeping our membership records up to date.

We would like to stay in touch with you with regular notices of our events and other news.  We occasionally send details of church events by Google Mail, with EMail addresses in the BCC field so that other recipients are unable to view your data.  If you decide you no longer want to hear from us, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link included at the bottom of our emails.

We want to make sure that information we hold about you is up to date.  You can contact the Church Office if you would like to change or update your information, or to check what information we have about you.  Before revealing that information to you we will apply some checks to verify your identity and ensure we do not share your details with anyone else.

If you have any queries regarding our use of data, please contact the church office.
