Lent Course 2013: The Messiah in words and music
First performed in 1742, Handel’s Messiah is one of the best-known pieces of religious music ever written, and a favourite with singers, instrumentalists and audiences alike.
Over the course of five evening sessions we will listen to a selection of excerpts from this great work, and reflect on some of the verses of scripture which Handel so memorably set to music.
Meetings take place at the Vicarage from 8 to 9.45pm on Wednesday evenings from 27th February to 27th March. Anyone is welcome to attend sessions, including members of other churches or those who do not normally go to any church. If you would like to book a place or to find out more, please feel free to contact the church office.
